Supplier diversity

Catalent Pharma Solutions is committed to providing a fair and level procurement playing field for all qualified suppliers who assist us in our mission to deliver advanced technologies, development, manufacturing and packaging services to our customers. We believe that competitive advantages are driven by innovation and innovation emerges from open and diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

An integral part of our strategy is a commitment to purchase from a supplier base which is representative of our employee and customer bases. In supporting customers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer health marketplaces, we understand that a diverse supplier base will help us continue to provide breakthrough innovative services that drive sustained value and results for our customers. We also know that our customers value their relationships with companies that proactively support the growth and inclusion of small, women, veteran and minority owned businesses in their supply chains. We know that innovation comes from companies of all shapes, types and sizes.

At Catalent, we are looking for suppliers that can contribute to our ability to provide reliable solutions and inspired results for our customers. Our successful suppliers are those that are proactive about bringing incremental value to us in a consistent and reliable manner. They understand our industry, our complex regulatory environment, and the responsibility we have to provide solutions that ultimately benefit patients involved in drug therapy.

Our Supplier Diversity / Small Business Initiative cover all Catalent locations in the United States and Puerto Rico. While we are a relatively new company and our supplier initiative is still growing, we are serious about our commitment to support the inclusion of small, women, disadvantaged, veteran, service-disabled veteran and minority owned companies in our supplier base. We believe that by fostering an inclusive supplier base, we will be more competitive and provide greater long-term sustainable value to our customer base. We will proactively provide a fair and equitable opportunity for qualified small businesses to compete for our business by consistent and proactive vendor outreach to identify relevant qualified small businesses, and by providing a fair and level playing field during the competitive bid process.

CONNECTING TO OUR PROCUREMENT OPPORTUNITIES

WHAT WE BUY:

Catalent has a robust sourcing and procurement process that supports the inclusion of diverse and smaller-sized suppliers. We follow a multi-step sourcing process, which starts with identifying specific products or categories for sourcing events (e-sourcing, request for proposals), building the specifications for suppliers, and identifying suppliers to include in the sourcing/procurement opportunity through supplier outreach.

Category Managers at Catalent can access our current database of qualified small, women, veteran and minority owned companies, and also can access the databases that are part of our membership with local women and minority owned councils, as well as the CCR database of small businesses provided by the government. We encourage all qualified suppliers to maintain their certifications with these organizations, as the certification can provide another pathway to our sourcing opportunities. This will allow our Category Managers an opportunity to review your qualifications and provide feedback.

HOW WE BUY:

As a result of thorough, up-front analysis, this process also significantly improves the likelihood of long-term success for all members of a project team, including our supply base. We encourage potential suppliers to become familiar with our processes, which will enable you to recognize and understand where you may be able to add value.

  1. Profile Category — Identify business need; conduct pre-project planning; select cross-functional team
  2. Develop Sourcing Strategy — Develop initial sourcing strategy objectives and success criteria; identify rationale, risks and resources required to execute sourcing strategy
  3. Identify Suppliers — Prepare supplier assessment matrix & establish criteria weights; identify potential suppliers and review applicable certified small and diversified supplier registrations
  4. Evaluate Suppliers — Identify supplier evaluation criteria, criteria weighting (including, but not limited to, cost, quality, assurance of supply, innovation and service), and develop a Supplier Evaluation Matrix; customize evaluation package through our Bravo tool (i.e., RFP, RFQ, Reverse Auction) based on evaluation matrix
  5. Negotiate with Suppliers — From negotiation team, assign roles and responsibilities, and identify key requirements; develop negotiation strategy for each supplier and negotiate with selected suppliers
  6. Transition Suppliers — Develop supplier scorecard; classify supplier as Strategic, Core or Basic for supplier relationship management; create supplier transition team
  7. Manage Suppliers — Establish supplier management team; develop supplier management plan; track performance vs. scorecard targets
